Anger is the most common emotion. It is also the strongest emotion in human beings. Feeling angry is quite normal but if you do not know how to deal with it anger could kill you. Buy why does one get angry? It's obvious that certain situations upset most of us and if they get out of hand we get angry. Anger is actually a similar emotion to happiness or sadness. It's healthy to feel angry. Anger will not go away, so do not ignore it. If you "collect anger" it can become dangerous, so be angry at times. However, always be tactful when dealing with anger. There are ways to deal with anger and manage it in a proper way. Be aware that you feel angry - You have to acknowledge that you are angry and that it is not abnormal to be angry. We all deal with stressful lifestyles and it is all right to be angry in certain situations. You need not feel bad or guilty or ashamed about feeling angry. Just know that you are a normal human being. Hence you are feeling one of the normal emotions. Calm down - Once you realize that you are getting angry try to calm down. You could move away from a messy situation, take a walk, discuss the situation with others and relax yourself. You could relax by taking a bath or listening to music or sleeping it off; take deep breaths to calm down your nerves, engage yourself in your hobbies - paint, draw or sing, meditate, etc. There are so many things you could do to calm your nerves. The advantage is that you find a couple of techniques that you could resort to, whenever you feel angry to allow yourself to calm down. Communicate - After you calm down, when you feel more at ease to open up your feelings, try to discuss your anger with someone or with the person you are angry with. Express your feelings in a positive way. Avoid finger pointing. Tell the person why you got angry. Let him explain his stand too. Both of you could discuss the reasons and the consequences. Once this is done you are ready to move on with your life with a better understanding of each other. You would be smart to manage your anger in future with these tips 1: Recognize your triggers and limits - When you are familiar with these, you could prepare yourself to face them and deal with them effectively in a better way than letting anger get at you. 2: Identify substances that can increase anger - Some substances contribute to negative emotions such as anger, depression, etc. Some of these substances are caffeine, drugs, alcohol, narcotics, etc. Do not consume the above to deal with your negative feelings. 3: Practice meditation on a daily basis - If you are angry, but practice calming techniques on a daily basis, it would not be long until you started to be more relaxed. So when you get angry or annoyed you have a much easier time dealing with them. Just a few more words... If you focus on the issue, problems could be solved. But if you focus on the person or his/her personality, your issues stay for a lifetime. Your approach should not be intimidating or threatening. You could manage your anger more effectively if you deal it with emotional maturity.
